The Work for Hope Foundation is a non-governmental, non-profit organization. It was established in Sana'a in January 2018. In light of a reality in which the nation has become in dire need for everyone's solidarity and unification of efforts in humanitarian work. Voluntary work is a vivid example of WHF and it puts its hands in your hands toward a hopeful Yemen. WHF Yemen is undertaking programs in Yemen in the fields of health, child protection, education, women's protection and empowerment, NFI and food distribution, cash assistance, and livelihoods programming. Our work in these challenging settings gives rise to some of the most pressing issues facing contemporary humanitarian action, including questions of access, security, funding and coordination.

Responsibilities المهام الوظيفية

    • Advises and assists the program manager  in all activities, including coordination, operations and advocacy, information management, humanitarian finance and policy development.

    • Monitors, analyzes and reports on humanitarian developments, disaster relief/management or emergency situations in assigned areas.

    • Assists the day-to-day management and mission planning of the front office. Assists in the preparation of communication material.

    • Organizes and prepares briefs on humanitarian, emergency relief and related issues; organizes follow-up work, including interagency technical review meetings to support policy development work and decision-making on important issues.

    • Participates in large, complex projects, to include disaster assessment or other missions; assists in the coordination of international humanitarian/emergency assistance for complex emergency.

    • Partners with other humanitarian agencies to plan and evaluate humanitarian and emergency assistance programs and help ensure that latest findings, lessons learned, policy guidelines, etc are incorporated into these activities, including gender-related considerations.

    • Establishes and maintains contacts with government officials, other UN agencies, non-governmental organizations, diplomatic missions, media, etc.

    • Undertakes and provides support to technical assistance and other field missions.

    • Prepares or contributes to the preparation of various written reports, documents and communications, e.g. drafts sections of studies, background papers, policy guidelines, parliamentary documents, briefings, case studies, presentations, correspondence, etc.

    • Serves as the primary focal point on specific topics or policy-related issues; keeps abreast of latest developments, liaises with other humanitarian organizations, donors, etc., ensures appropriate monitoring and reporting mechanisms; provides information and advice on a range of related issues.

    • Reviews and provides advice on policy issues related to safeguarding humanitarian principles and ensuring the effective delivery of humanitarian assistance.

    • Organizes and participates in work groups, meetings, conferences, consultations with other agencies and partners on humanitarian and emergency relief-related matters.

    •Provides guidance to, and may supervise, new/junior staff.
    • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience المؤهلات والخبرات
    • University degree in Business Management, Economics, Information Technology or other relevant fields with at least one year of relevant professional work experience.
    • Demonstrated understanding of secretary functions specifically in the humanitarian and development context.
    • Relevant background in emergency programs.
    • Good English Skills.
    • Good report writing skills.
    • Very good command of MS Office applications.
