NEW

To support the nutrition team in the management of CMAM program focusing on outpatient therapeutic program (OTP), Supplementary Feeding Program and the community mobilization component of the overall nutrition program. Support the efficient and effective operation of the OTP/TSFP and the community mobilization program under the guidance of the Nutrition Program Officer in line with professional principles of Save the Children. The Project Assistant will be responsible for supervising OTP, TSFP and the community outreach worker staff at the SCI nutrition program including supporting the mother to mother support group leaders.

In addition, support the program in term of regulating the consumption of all nutrition supplies including therapeutic foods and other related drugs and equipment.

    KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

    Activity Implementation

    • Work closely with the team to ensure all children in the nutrition program receive care and treatment in accordance with MoPHP Guidelines, including being weighed, measured, registered and referred correctly and receive food/treatment according to the national protocol
    • Supervise nutrition activities in the supported communities offering OTP, SFP and awareness-raising activities particularly on infant and young child feeding (IYCF) and hygiene practices.
    • Provide supportive supervision visits for OTP, TSFP and MTMSG activities with in coordination with MOPHP.
    • Support regular community based identification of malnutrition cases through screening for children 6-59 months, pregnant and lactating women and referral to nearest mobile clinics, and follow-up on defaulters.
    • Ensure proper registration and admission/discharge of TSFP patients including ongoing monitoring on patients
    • In collaboration with MoPHP, organise trainings for community based workers, mobile teams and to provide on the job support for both OTP and TSFP activities.
    • Assist the community outreach volunteers in conducting nutrition, health, and hygiene activities in both health facility and community settings, for various target groups.
    • Work closely with the MoPHP to identify leaders for Mother-to-Mother Support Groups (MTMSG) and they are trained by the MoPHP.
    • Assist MTMSG leaders and community outreach volunteers in community mobilization to raise awareness, establish groups, and hold MTMSG sessions according to implementation plan.
    • Support implementation of quality IYCF counselling through linking MTMSG to mobile teams and health facilities.
    • Coordinate all logistics requirements with the logistic team including food dispatch, distribution plan and storage.
    • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports and statistic reports for submission to the Nutrition Program Officer.
    • Train and support the nutrition team in managing paper work (WFP food tracking documents, ration cards and registration books)
    • Report any problems in a timely manner to the nutrition program officer.
    • Any other duties that may be assigned by line manager

    Advocacy and Awareness Raising

    • Participate in hosting events/campaigns to raise awareness on nutrition and formed MTMSGs in the community .
    • Participate in the design, production and dissemination of relevant nutrition, health and hygiene, and IYCF information at the community level in line with the MoPHP guidelines.
    • Coordinate with the H&N team and MoPHP staff to raise awareness in communities.

    Monitoring and Evaluation

    • Assist the M&E team in creating appropriate monitoring tools for project impact, quality, Post Distribution Monitoring, behavior change, and measurement of IPTT indicator tracking.
    • Working with the community mobilization to follow up the defaulters children and conducting MUAC screening in their communities
    • Work with the Data Entry to ensure a project progress database is complete/ updated.
    • Participate in conducting nutrition research studies such as local causes of malnutrition extended SMART survey with support from technical staff.
    • Conduct regular feedback sessions with the M&E Officer and Accountability Assistants to ensure that all findings are addressed and adjustments made to the project throughout implementation.
    • Carry out regular monitoring field visits and submit reports to the Programme Officer.
    • Planning & Coordination

    • Develop and ensure the utilization of activitiy work and use developed activity work plans based on the program annual work plan monthly/quarterly.
    • Support the integration/communication with other H&N sectors.
    • Participate in sector/office meetings with management and other departments, as required.
    • Reporting

    • Ensure timely reporting in of activities (narrative and data) in accordance with set deadlines.
    • Collect reporting/data inputs from mobile teams and community outreach volunteers and compile results weekly.
    • Perform any other tasks as required by line/technical manager or H&N programme manager.
Qualifications & Experience المؤهلات والخبرات

    QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    • At least a Diploma in nutrition or equivalent; (nursing, midwifery and other medical qualification desirable) from any recognised institution.
    • Has trained on CMAM and experience in working on OTP & SFP activities.
    • Has trained on IYCF and experience working on IYCF activities.
    • Understanding rights based approaches and participatory concepts and practical experience in similar context.
    • Ability to communicate and maintain tactful relations with community.
    • Strong commitment to capacity building of national staff and partners with willingness to adopt a participatory and consultative management approach.
    • Flexible, adaptable, able to improvise and work in stressful, volatile environment
